Kathlene is a cross-border special situations lawyer and the Founder of MaiKCóir and Burke Legal. She is qualified and actively practises English, Irish, and US law, advising companies, creditors, funds and governments in complex special situations and distressed scenarios.

Through the MaiKCóir, Burke Legal and Nexa platforms, Kathlene delivers integrated legal and strategic advice across jurisdictions. Kathlene’s work frequently involves the coordination of cross-border processes, schemes and recognition strategies spanning multiple legal systems.

Her practice combines deep technical special situations expertise with experience in legislative drafting, policy work, and multi-jurisdictional transaction design. She has engaged with UNCITRAL Working Group V and is currently advising the Government of Argentina on comprehensive law reform.

Kathlene is a regular speaker and contributor on special situations, liability management, legislative developments, and comparative restructuring law.

Susanna brings over a decade of private credit and leveraged finance experience across Italy, France, and London. She advises on complex capital structures, portfolio strategy, and sponsor-driven situations, with particular expertise in private credit deployment and portfolio management.

Prior to joining MaiKCóir, Susanna was Director and Head of Leveraged Finance Portfolio at MUFG, overseeing portfolio performance and risk across a broad range of European leveraged exposures. Before MUFG, she spent six years at CVC Credit as a private credit investor, originating, underwriting, and managing leveraged transactions across multiple sectors.

Susanna holds a Master in Management (with distinction) from ESCP Business School. An extract of her thesis on the influence of macroeconomic indicators on long-term issuer ratings was published in Banque & Stratégie in December 2016.

Based in London, Susanna provides sponsor connectivity, private credit insight, and strategic input on capital structure solutions across the UK and European markets.
